Assistant Teacher
The incumbent will play a key role in teaching, developing, and delivering stimulating and effective instruction, a learning environment that facilitates the achievement of desired learning outcomes, and a curriculum that integrates biblical understandings.
As we are grounded in the Christian faith, teachers at CLAS emphasize pastoral care and spiritual growth of all students, respect to peers and the community, and the development of on-going professional development.

• Follows Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, administration, and staff.
• Shows support for the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education, and assists them in the task.

Essential Duties:
Non-instructional and Professional:
• Cooperates with the board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the
school
• Maintains regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demand for a comprehensive knowledge of each student’s
progress
• Keeps students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of deficiencies and gives sufficient notice of failure
• Maintains a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom
• Accepts a share of responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned
• Utilizes educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth
• Seeks the counsel of the administrator, colleagues, and parents, and is teachable
• Provides input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school
• Attends and participates in scheduled devotional, committee, faculty, and PTF meetings
• Demonstrates knowledge of procedures for dealing with emergencies
• Contributes to the general improvement of the school program

7. When the interview is completed, the Administrator will prayerfully consider how to proceed with hiring process. Applicants will be notified and either thanked or asked back to proceed for a possible Board interview and to discuss a contract. In some cases several semi-finalists for the position will be recommended to the Board for this final interview.
8. If approved by the Board, a contract will be issued to the applicant. It must be signed and returned within ten business days to become a valid contract. Final authority for hiring is the School’s Board of Directors, upon recommendation of the Administrator.
9. When the contract is signed and returned, the Administrator will schedule an orientation appointment to acquaint the staff member with the curriculum and staff policies. A Staff Handbook will be issued at this time. The new staff member may also pick up any materials that he/she may wish to study and prepare for the fall trimester. If there are several new members joining the staff, portions of this orientation may be done as part of an in-service day.

- Hold students to extremely high academic and behavioral standards.
