JOIN US in supporting the care for orphaned children
in South Africa through uMephi Daleview
We are pleased to inform you about an exciting and meaningful initiative that our school will be undertaking to support uMephi Daleview, an organization dedicated to caring for orphaned children in South Africa. As part of our commitment to fostering a sense of community and compassion among our students, we will be organizing a fundraising event to aid this worthy cause.
As we wrap up for the year, our students are organizing this fundraising campaign as a prototype for their Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) project focusing on Zero Hunger and No Poverty. They will be walking or running to raise awareness and funds to support these crucial goals. This event is being led by two of our dedicated students, Sara and Aria, as part of their SDG prototype project. |
Event Details
Our fundraising effort will involve a fun and engaging activity for our students. They will participate in a “Lap-a-thon” where they will run, walk, or jog laps
around our playground soccer field, which is approximately 60 meters long. Each lap they complete will be recorded. The Lap-a-thon will last for about an
hour. The goal is to raise money by collecting pledges from family and friends for each lap they complete. Donors can determine the amount they wish to
pledge per lap.
How It Works
- Pledge Collection: Students will receive a pledge form to record the names and pledge amounts from family and friends.
- Event Day: On the 20th of June 2024- Thursday, students will participate in the Lap-a-thon during school hours. Each lap they complete within the hour will be recorded.
- Pledge Fulfillment: After the event, students will return to their sponsors to collect the pledged amounts based on the number of laps completed.
Why Umephi Daleview
Umephi Daleview is an organization that provides a safe and nurturing environment for orphaned children in South Africa. They offer not only shelter but also education, healthcare, and emotional support to help these children thrive. Our contributions will go directly toward improving the lives of these children, giving them hope and opportunities for a brighter future.
How You Can Help
- Encourage Participation. Please encourage your child to participate enthusiastically in the Lap-a-thon and help them understand the importance of supporting less fortunate children.
- Assist with Pledge Collection. Help your child reach out to family, friends, and neighbors to gather pledges. Every little bit helps, and together we can make a significant impact.
- Volunteer. If you are available, we would greatly appreciate any assistance on the day of the event to help with lap counting and encouragement. We will provide a CLAS t-shirt if you don't already have one.

To ensure transparency and provide tax benefits for our donors, we request that all donations be transferred directly to our school, which is a registered non-profit organization. This way, we can issue official receipts for tax purposes.
